Building unique and engaging curriculum is my passion. I am currently a secondary school teacher for over 16 years of both middle and high school students. I have a Masters Degree in Secondary Education and Bachelors in History and English.

In the last few years I have started sharing my curriculum with other teachers. I have found that textbooks written by big corporations tend to be horrible. Since I have became a teacher, I have realized that the resources by big companies are usually written by college graduates without any experience actually teaching. All too often the materials are obvious attempts to show their own education level, but blatantly ignoring the students needs and interest for whom they are writing the material. So I started creating my own materials with my own students in mind. I am a strong believer in teaching curriculum through various methods of learning, specifically differentiated methods. Not every student learns the same way. There are visual, auditory, kinesthetic and reading/writing learners. This is the basis of differentiating lessons. Homeschool teachers have a great advantage of using methods that directly work best for their students. Hopefully you will find resources here that fit the type of learning for your student.

I created VanValkenburgh Educational Resources as a side hobby to share my resources with other teachers. I have recognized that there is not enough material for the home school teachers, so I have created this site to share my resources for those very often misunderstood and under valued great parents, guardians and private teachers out there dedicating their lives to the home student.
